|HAROLD “BUD” LONGWELL III
AVOCA-Harold “Bud” Longwell III, 58, of Avoca, passed away suddenly on Wednesday (Dec. 21, 2016) at his home.
Born on Jan. 15, 1958, he was a son of the late Harold and Janet (Jack) Longwell.
Bud was well known for his dedication to his community; he was employed as the superintendent for the Village of Avoca for the past 19 years.
He greatly loved the outdoors and was an avid sportsman; he served as a referee for girls’ soccer and umpired boys’ baseball.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Bud proudly served his country from 1976 to his honorable discharge in 1980. He was a former member of the Avoca Volunteer Fire Dept. and was a member of SCOPE.
He was a cherished “Papa” and Grandpa, who was dearly loved.
Bud is survived by his wife, Sharyl (Schutz) Longwell, who he married in Avoca on Oct. 22, 2005; his four children, Brian (Jen) Longwell, Brad (Jessica) Longwell, Eric (Dana) Longwell and Greg Longwell; two stepdaughters, Kelly Councilman (Jeff) and Sarah Councilman (Dana); six grandchildren, Nicholas, Kaylen, Parker, Domenic, Carter and Evelyn; his brother, Tim (Kate) Longwell; four sisters, Dawn (Robin) Coots, Darla (John) Hoffman, Deanna (Brad) Seargant, Heather (Mike) Johnson and several loved nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed and will forever be in our hearts.
The Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St. in Avoca is honored to serve the family of Harold “Bud” Longwell III.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday (December 30, 2016) at the Avoca Baptist Church.
