|MICHAEL J. “MIKEY” BERG
HORNELL-Michael J. “Mikey” Berg, 39, passed away comfortably and peacefully on Wednesday afternoon (Dec. 14, 2016) at his home on Hornell Street.
Born in Corning on Oct. 7, 1977, he was a son of Larry and Betty (Stewart) Berg.
A former resident of Bath, Mike has resided in Hornell his entire adult life and attended Canisteo Central School and Haverling Central School in Bath.
Even though he was small in stature, he possessed a huge heart of gold and enjoyed most of all to spend time with his family and friends and to make them laugh.
Mike, also affectionately called “Mikey,” enjoyed life and loved to listen to music, spend time fishing, playing video games, drawing, wood burning and four wheeling with friends. He was also an avid Dale Earnhardt fan and was especially fond of cats.
His loving family includes his mother, Betty Berg of Hornell; his father, Larry (Barb) Berg of Ocala, Fla.; his brother, Jeremy (Kim) Berg of Hornell; his sister, Tracey Chapman of Hornell; also several aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and one niece.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Leon and Annabelle Stewart; his paternal grandparents, Daniel and Viola Milroy and his nephew, Alec “AJ” Berg.
The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St. in Hornell is honored to serve the family of Michael J. “Mike” Berg.
There will be no calling hours. A private funeral service will be held in his memory at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to the Hornell Area Humane Society, 7649 Industrial park Road, Hornell, N.Y. 14843.
