CLESSA CARRIE KELLOGG ALLEN
BRASELTON, GA/HORNELL - Clessa Allen, 85, formerly of Arkport and Hornell, New York, passed away at her home in Braselton, Georgia on Saturday (September 17, 2016.) Clessa was born on July 21, 1931 to Charles Burr and Carrie J. (Sanford) Kellogg in the town of Romulus, New York. In her young adulthood, Clessa met the love of her life, Maurice “Maury” Spencer Allen, and married him on March 9, 1957. Their marriage ended too soon when Maurice passed, on May 25, 1973. However, their legacy lives on through the lives of their children, Orville E. Allen II, Lynette (Jerry) De Avila, Marcette A. Allen, and Karla (Robert) Hellard. Clessa is also survived by her eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren: Joshua De Avila; Rebekah (Joshua) Hudson; Caleb De Avila; Sarah De Avila; Samuel De Avila; Meridith (Adeel) Khan (Sofia, Farhan, Hannah, and Nadia); Brittany & Justin (Bailey, Zoe, and Lance); David (Ashley) De Avila (Ryleigh, Owen, Olivia); Vincent (Megan) Antezana (Keri, and Karson); Devon (James) Frady (Kinley); and Kristen Witherow. Clessa’s whole life was one of walking with the Lord, from a little child until her death. She was a “people” person – she loved Jesus, and she loved the people He placed in her life. Clessa always had an ear to listen and an encouraging word to speak. She was a selfless person, who always put the needs of others over her own, and she loved unconditionally. She was always willing to forgive, and forget, when someone erred. Clessa’s greatest desire was that her loved ones, and anyone else she happened to meet along the way, would know that God loves them. Her heart’s desire was for others to personally know her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Clessa’s journey here on earth has ended, but her life has just begun, in heaven with Jesus, Maury, and her loved ones who went before her! The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St. in Hornell is honored to serve the family of Clessa Allen. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (October 1, 2016) at Hope Cemetery in Hornell. |
