AVOCA-Arleen M. (Fox) Towner, age 73, died suddenly on Wednesday (June 15, 2016) at her home.
She was born in Bath on Dec. 22, 1942 a daughter of the late D. Herbert Fox and Ella (Babcock) Fox.
She attended Avoca Central School and worked for many years for Taylor Wineries.
She enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She attended the Wallace Wesleyan Church and Faithful Followers of Christ Church and she could often be found helping in the church kitchen.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Towner, to whom she was married to for 28 years; her two daughters, Carleen (Gary) Coppock, Charlene (Lloyd) Brewer; her two step children, Kim (Richard Smith) Mehlenbacher and Mark (Dawn) Towner. She had 10 grandchildren, Sarah Coppock, Rachel Coppock, April Brewer, Amanda (Jonathan) Pierson, Joanna Brewer, Benjamin Brewer, Courtney (Zack Moody) Mehlenbacher, Rebecca Brown, Michelle Smith, Melissa Smith and three great-grandchildren, Vincent, Carol and Brandy Pierson.
She is also survived by eight siblings, Delores Wolfanger, Ruth Larson, Mildred Gardiner, Shirley Donelson, Joyce Pipe, Darwin Fox, Barbara Blohm and Audrey Forbes; also several brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
The Avoca Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Arleen M. Towner.
Calling hours will be Tuesday (June 21, 2016) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wallace Wesleyan Church in Wallace, with services to follow immediately.
