NORTH HORNELL-James A. Capluzzi, Jr., 51, passed away, surrounded by his loving family, early Thursday afternoon (Jan. 14, 2016) at his sister’s home on Cleveland Ave., where he was lovingly cared for by his devoted sister, Vicki Capluzzi Hallett and his niece, Emily Capluzzi.

Born in Hornell on Feb. 11, 1964, he was a son of the late James and Patricia (Crowe) Capluzzi. Besides his parents he was also predeceased by his grandparents, several aunts and uncles and his beloved dog, Zoe.

A graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1982, Jimmy was also a graduate of Alfred State College.

He was a former resident of Rochester and returned to Hornell about three years ago. While residing in Rochester he was employed as a head designer at MJ Designs and as a model for the Barbizon School of Modeling. At one time he also owned and operated a flower shop in Hornell and Rochester.

Jimmy, who enjoyed trips to New York City, will be remembered as a very talented florist and interior designer whose entire life was devoted to decorating.

His loving family includes his sister, Vicki, with whom he resided; his three brothers, Joseph (Heather) Capluzzi of Bath, Paul Capluzzi of Hornell and Matthew Capluzzi of Cohocton; his nieces and nephews, Brandy Capluzzi (Earl) Bizzell, Amanda Witter, Justin Brown, Benjamin Brown, James Brown, Emily Capluzzi, Allison Capluzzi, Alyssa Capluzzi and Lauren Capluzzi; his great nieces and nephews, Natalie Capluzzi, Chesney Bizzell, Eviana Brown, Ethan Dieter and Jayden Dieter; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Calling hours are from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, where family and friends may share memories of Jimmy with one another.

Even though Jimmy was a florist, he requested the courtesy of no flowers. He dearly loved animals and preferred that those wishing would contribute in his memory to the Hornell Area Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Road, Hornell, N.Y. 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
