CAZENOVIA/HORNELL-Michael W. Greene, 61, of Cazenovia, formerly of Hornell, passed away Friday morning (Oct. 30, 2015) at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, after a short illness.
Born in Hornell on Jan. 11, 1954, Mike was a graduate of St. Ann’s School and Hornell High School, class of 1972; and received an associate’s degree from Alfred State College.
He was a kind and gentle man of quiet faith who brought a calming force to all around him. Mike was a very caring and responsible husband, dedicated to his wife, Chris. He was extremely supportive of all of her endeavors. They enjoyed a close, loving relationship that lasted 40 years.
Mike was a committed employee who enjoyed working for OCM BOCES for 17 years as a team leader in the computer technology department. He had excellent skills as a problem-solver in every aspect of his life. He enjoyed cooking and he was known for his mean leek soup and specialty chili. An avid SU lacrosse fan and avid reader, Mike also enjoyed anything to do with astronomy and the universe. Many will miss this loving soul and his constant positive outlook on life.
He was predeceased by his father, James; beloved grandmother, Bonnie Conklin; and uncles, Michael Conklin and John (Nora) Terpstra.
His loving family includes his wife of 39 years, the former Christine Glaeser; his cherished mother, Patricia “Ann” Conklin of Hornell; and the Conklin, Flansburg and Terpstra families.
The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell is honored to serve the family of Michael W. Greene and to assist the Buranich Funeral Home in Camillus.
Calling hours are 4-7 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 4, 2015) at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Friends are invited to meet his family at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 7, 2015.) Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
