|JAMES D. BOTTOMLEY
CANASERAGA-James D. Bottomley, 54, of Coombs Road, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday (April 21, 2015) at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell.
Born in Hornell on April 22, 1960, he was a son of Frank B. Bottomley, who predeceased him on March 22, 2014 and Phyllis Beard Bottomley, who survives. On Sept. 12, 2009 he was married in Canaseraga to the former Sandra L. McDowell, who also survives.
A graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1979 he received his associate’s degree from the Wellsville Campus of Alfred State College where he studied Electrical Trade Services.
Jim was employed by Kodak in Rochester and M-K in Hornell before he began his 30 year career with Steuben Gas Storage, which he was instrumental in establishing, and was presently a Superintendent with its predecessor, Arlington Storage at Crestwood.
He was a car enthusiast and was very proud owner of 1976 Chevrolet Camaro LT. Jim always seemed to be in the process of either repairing or building something and enjoyed camping, annual trips to Jamaica. He especially enjoyed family events and spending time with his children and grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Grandpa Jim Jim”.
His loving family includes his wife of five years, Sandy; his mother, Phyllis of Hornell; his two children, Jesse (Kaitlyn) Bottomley and Ashley (Larry) Fink all of Hornell; his two stepsons, Robert (Sarah) Acome of Derry, N.H. and Joseph Warren of Pennellville; his two granddaughters, Ayrianna and Alice Bottomley; his sister, Lois Davis of Rochester; also his niece, Chelsea Davis and nephew, Zachary Davis.

Calling hours are 1-3 p.m. today (Sunday) at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell where a funeral service will be held in his memory following calling hours at 3 p.m. today (Sunday) with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to the Shut Up and Shoot Benefit for Jay Shultz for ALS, in care of Joanna Dyer, 800 Robinson Road, Owego, N.Y. 13827. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
