|DAVID J. “DAVE” RIEFER
HORNELL-David J. “Dave” Riefer, 56, of High St., passed away Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 11, 2014) at Hornell Gardens, after a brief illness.
Born in Hornell on Jan. 24, 1958, he was a son of Francis J. “Fritz” Riefer, who predeceased him Oct. 8, 2002 and Dorothy A. Denhoff Riefer, who survives.
A resident of Hornell for most of his life, Dave resided in Indiana for several years before returning to Hornell. He was a graduate of Hornell High School, as well as the Steuben-Allegany County BOCES and was employed as an auto body technician.
Dave was a motorcycle enthusiast who owned various types of bikes throughout his lifetime. He was also an avid collector of Hot Wheels and enjoyed spending time with his many friends.
His family includes his loving mother, Dorothy, with whom he resided; his three brothers, Joseph (Regina) Riefer of Hornell, William Riefer of Hornell and James Riefer of Arkport; his sister, Linda Rice of Atlanta, N.Y.; also several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Besides his father, he was also predeceased by his sister, Nancy McManus.
The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc. in Hornell is honored to serve the family of David J. “Dave” Riefer.
There will be no public calling hours. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of his family at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to their favorite charity.
