AVOCA -M. Jane Stowe passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday (July 28, 2014).

Jane was born on December 24, 1927 in Avoca, New York. She was the daughter of the late Ruth E. Bush Bauter and Deyo S. Bauter. Jane graduated from Avoca Central High School and Bryant & Stratton College. On June 26, 1948, she married Merlyn “Pat” W. Stowe and they took up residence in Rochester, NY for 39 years.

Jane and Pat loved traveling and took four cross country trips driving through all of the lower 48 states with Jane’s parents and their children.

Upon Pat’s retirement, they lived in Avoca, New York, dividing their time between New York and Florida. Pat and Jane were avid golfers. They enjoyed 28 years in North Port, Florida playing many, many rounds of golf. Jane played by the rules and counted all of the strokes. Continuing their love of travel, they toured the U.S. in an RV including a month long trip to and from Alaska. They made overseas trips to Australia, New Zealand, England, Wales, Scotland, Spain, Greece and Turkey.

Jane’s family includes her husband of 66 years, Pat; her son, Darren (Wini), her daughter Jodie, and two grandchildren, Christine and Madeline. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Sally S. Bauter Seiter.

The Avoca Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of M. Jane Stowe.
