HORNELL-Norma J. Maglier, 74, of 1190 County Road 66, Green Acres Mobile Home Park, passed away late Sunday evening (June 29, 2014) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, after a short illness.

Born in Hornell on Dec. 1, 1939, she was a daughter of the late John and Virginia Rich Buono. On Aug. 27, 1960, she was married at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell to Raymond F. Maglier, who passed away on July 3, 1999, after nearly 39 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her brother, Larry Buono and her two sisters, Beverly Eveland and Gail Lonsberry.

A resident of Hornell for most of her life, Norma was a graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1958.

She was employed by the former N.Y. Telephone Co. in Hornell and Binghamton. For 14 years she was employed by the former Bethesda Community Hospital in North Hornell and for about two years at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell and later for the Hornell Board of education.

Norma was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Hornell. She was also a member and past-president of the Italian-American Womens Club, a member of the Ladies of Columbus, the Hornell Alumni Assoc., the Hornell Elks Lodge No. 364, the Hornell Moose Lodge No. 210, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Arthur H. Cunningham American Legion Post No. 440 in Hornell and a member of TOPS.

She also enjoyed bowling, golf and spending time at either the Hornell YMCA or at Curves.

Her loving family includes her three children, Michele (Marty) Jerome of Manchester, N.Y., Lisa Dye of Dansville and Patrick (Tami) Maglier of Wellsville; her 11 grandchildren, Nicholas (Kim) Lecceardone, Anthony Lecceardone, Joshua, Jordan and Jacob Jerome, Casey Maglier, Emma Maglier, Melissa Hess (Antuan Herriott), Michael (Jessica) Hess, Joseph (Brandy) Greenthal and Joshua (Brie) Greenthal; her nine great- grandchildren; her brother, John (Nancy) Buono of South Carolina; her sisters-in-law, Blanche Buono of Spring Hill, Fl.; Shirley Benson and Sharon Siegel both of Hornell; her brother-in-law, Thomas Eveland of Hornell; also her nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours are from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell. Friends are invited to meet her family at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
