HORNELL-Betty J. Monaghan, 79, of East Main St., passed away, after a long and courageous battle with leukemia, late Wednesday evening (July 10, 2013) at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.
Born in Bolivar on Feb. 6, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Earl E. and Myrtle I. Bailey Hall. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Albert Monaghan, her two brothers and sister-in-laws, Donald (2001) and Jane (2010), Dale (2003) and Trudy (2013.)
Her surviving family includes her former husband and father of her children, Kenneth French of Hornell; her four children, Larry French (Joanne Carpenter), Beth Campbell (Paul Cushman), Debra French and Amy French all of Hornell; her four grandchildren, Michael Butler, Jr., Sandra Campbell, Ricky French and Sean French and her great-grandson, Jasper French all of Hornell; her sister, Sandra (Peter) Brundu of Hornell; her brother, James Hall of Phoenix, AZ; also her nieces, nephews and cousins.
To honor her wishes there will be no calling hours. A private funeral and committal service will be held at the convenience of her family at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, with Pastor Doug Jones of the New Hope Wesleyan Church in Hornell officiating. Interment will be in Heritage Hill Cemetery, Arkport.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to either Hope Lodge, 1120 S. Goodman St., Rochester, N.Y. 14650 or to the Wilmot Cancer Center, 601 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, N.Y. 14642.
