HORNELL- Regina Ann Crandall Slater, 90, formerly of 99 Genesee Street, passed away Thursday afternoon (January 3, 2013) at her daughter's home, surrounded by her family.



Regina was born in Sayre, PA on February 12, 1922 , and was raised by her loving grandparents. She spent her youth in Sayre, and graduated from Sayre High School. After marrying Frederick Slater in 1952, Regina and her family lived in Bath, NY and Martinsville, VA before settling in Hornell in 1956.



Regina raised her five children and worked in the Hornell School District for 10 years as a secretary at Columbian School. She was a former PTA president at Columbian School, and was active in Campfire for over 10 years. Regina was also an American Legion Auxiliary member for over 60 years.



Regina enjoyed traveling with her family. She especially enjoyed her journeys to Ireland, Keuka Lake, Austria, Scotland, Hawaii, New Zealand and Australia. Regina was an artist creating beautiful quilts, clothing, and crafts for her family and friends. She also enjoyed walking and taking pictures. Regina had a special love for dancing and Irish music�she was forever tapping her toes.



Above all, Regina loved her family. Regina is survived by her beloved children: Christine (Earl) MacNaughton of Hornell; Cherie (John) Buckley of Hornell; Catherine Slater (Nicholas Lewitzky) of Olean; Collette (Mitchell) Cornish of Hornell, and John F. Slater of Hollis, NH; her grandchildren: Claire (Kevin) White; Shawn MacNaughton (Liz White), Shad MacNaughton; Johnny (Shannon) Buckley, Patrick Buckley (Alexandria LaPorte), Colleen and Shannon Buckley; Carie Andrus (Tom Milliron), Matthew Andrus, Chelsea Giachetti (Michael Kuhn); Lee Cornish; Christopher Slater; her great grandchildren: Arden and Adrianna White; Logan Andrus and Breydon Milliron; and Allyson and Maya Buckley; her sister-in-law Anna Crandall; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cherie and Robert Kavanaugh; her sister-in-law, Joan Slater as well as many nieces and nephews. Her canine family includes: Bailey, Holly, Maggie, Ellie, Gertrude Ann, Loosie, Maizee Amalu, Kalla, Mya, Meeko, Maya, and Neville.



Regina is preceded in death by her husband Frederick, infant daughter Claire Patrice, and her twin brother, Robert Crandall.



Calling hours were held from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell; a funeral service followed at 7 p.m., Deacon Robert McCormick officiated. Private interment will be held Monday at St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
