Edith was born in Queens Village, Long Island on August 6, 1929, daughter of the late Frederick and Helen (Schultz) Ross. She was also predeceased by her husband of 68 years, James D. Piatt, her one sister, Dorothy Shay, and son-in-law, Ron Acciari.

Edith is survived by her brother, Frederick (Barb) Ross; seven children, Catherine (Dan) Baschmann, Susan Acciari, James (Colleen) Piatt, Steven (Mercedes) Piatt, David (Jenni) Piatt, Robert (Anna Marie) Piatt, Bill (Suzanne) Piatt; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren

Edith worked for Household Finance Corp. in Manhattan and Seattle as a secretary/bookkeeper. After raising her family, she worked part time for six years at Arkport Central School. She was a long time member of the Arkport Presbyterian Church serving as a Trustee, Deacon and assisting with the MOPS program. She was a dedicated participant in the Ladies Saturday morning Bible Study and Prayer Group. She was committed to visiting the sick and driving for Faith in Action with her husband.

Edith was a member of Wise Wives and Home Bureau, and enjoyed quilting, gardening, reading, bowling, round and square dancing, and family “get togethers.” She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and sister whom always welcomed friends and family into her home, and for decades was affectionately recognized throughout the village taking nightly walks arm in arm with her husband, Jim.
