Lucciano G. “Lu” Brundu

HORNEL-Lucciano G. “Lu” Brundu, 84, passed peacefully, after a short illness, Friday evening (June 12, 2020) at his home on Hornell Street, with his loving family at his side.

Born in Hornell on Sept. 25, 1935, he was a son of the late John and Anita (Madduca) Brundu. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his grandson, Collin Weakland; one sister, Jennie Grillo and one brother, Salvatore Brundu. A lifelong resident of Hornell, Lu has resided in the Hornell Street area for most of his life. He attended Hornell High School and was a member of the Class of 1956. In his younger years he was very proud that he worked with the late Dr. Ted Beyer, a well-known veterinarian. Lu was a former real estate agent and was affiliated with Winters Real Estate in Hornell and before he retired he was employed as an electrician for the IBEW Local Union #139 of Elmira, N.Y. He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Hornell, a Fourth Degree member of the Hornell Council Knights of Columbus and a member of the G. Carducci Lodge and the Hornell High School Alumni Association.

For many years Lu was an avid hunter, both bow and gun, and enjoyed spending time doing wood carvings, quilting and collecting numerous items. Throughout the years he has owned several antique cars and was an active member of the CVR Car Club. He will be remembered for being a very social person who loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

His loving family includes his wife of 63 years, Eleanor (Bash) Brundu, who he married at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell on Oct. 6, 1956; four daughters, Lucinda “Cindy” (Martin) Vogt of Hornell, Bonnie (Gennady) Urman of Penfield, N.Y., Candy Brundu (Peter Gambino) of Hornell and Nancy Lu Brundu, also of Hornell; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Stella Patrick of Hornell; two brothers, Peter (Sandy) Brundu and George (Sally) Brundu all of Hornell; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell is honored to serve the family of Lucciano G. “Lu” Brundu. There will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to meet his family at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont, where a graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday (June 18, 2010), with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.
