|Thelma R. Covert
BATH/HORNELL-Thelma R. Covert, 90, a resident of Orchard Park, N.Y. since 1990 and formerly of Bath and Hornell, passed away Monday evening (Dec. 3, 2018) at the Autumn View Health Care Facility in Hamburg, N.Y.
Born in Bath on March 5, 1928, she was a daughter f the late Joseph and Ethel (Knowles) Robbins. In 1956 she was married in Bath to Arthur B. Covert, who predeceased her on Dec. 14, 1990 after 34 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her twin sister, Norma (George) Freeman; and her two brothers, Joseph (Doris) Robbins and Albert Robbins; her sister-in-law, Patricia Robbins; her grand-niece, Arlynn Robbins and her great-granddaughter, Miya Loretta Covert.
A graduate of Haverling Central School in Bath, Thelma resided in Hornell for 25 years before moving to Orchard Park.
For 11 years she was employed by N.Y. Telephone in Bath and later she began her employment as a real estate agent with the former Winters Real Estate in Hornell for 13 years.
While residing in Hornell she was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and the Board of Realtors. She also volunteered her time as a Campfire leader and also assisted in coaching Cinderella Softball.
Thelma was an avid card player and especially enjoyed playing Bridge. She dearly loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them and enjoyed attending all of her children’s events throughout their lives.
Her loving family includes her three children, Sue (Greg) Newhouse of Rochester, Arthur (Tonya) Covert of Fair Play, S.C. and Pamela (James) Lalley of Orchard Park, with whom she resided; her nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; her brother, Harold Robbins of Bath; her sister, Gretta (James) Preston of Hector; her sister-in-law, Vera Robbins of Bath; also, her many beloved nieces and nephews.

There will be an hour of calling from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 8, 2018) at the Centenary United Methodist Church, 3 W. Washington St., Bath, where a funeral service will be held immediately following at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Eleanor Collinsworth officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at Nondaga Cemetery, Bath.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to Roswell Park Cancer Institute (Note: Research). Elm & Carlton Streets, Buffalo, N.Y. 14263. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the church.
