Nelson F. Eaton

AVOCA-Nelson F. Eaton, 82 of Avoca, passed away Monday morning (Nov. 12, 2018) at the Taylor Health Center in Bath.

Born in Bath on Sept. 16, 1936 he was a son of the late Lester B. and Edith M. (Dawson) Eaton. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his wife, Glennis Eaton on Sept. 11, 1989; and his five siblings, Richard, Joanne, William, Patricia and Robert.

Nelson held numerous positions for the Village of Avoca and the Town of Avoca from 1969 to 2009. He was instrumental in developing the water system and it was dedicated in honor of him.

He proudly served his country with the U.S. Marines from 1955 to his honorable discharge as a Corporal in 1959.

Throughout the years Nelson has been an avid history buff and coached all of his sons in Little League Baseball.

His loving family includes his five sons, Scott (Gail) Eaton of Auburn, Maine, Curt Eaton (Barb Miller) of Bath, Eric (Carol) Eaton of Avoca, Jeff (Pam) Eaton of Chesapeake, Va. and Seth (Betsy) Eaton of York, S.C.; his 10 grandchildren, Arron (Jamie) Eaton, Tonia (Jay) Looney, Adam (Kristin) Eaton, Brandon (Nichole) Eaton, Shawn (Tonia) Eaton, Shannon Eaton, Rachel Eaton, Andrew(Hannah) Eaton, Ryan Eaton and Diana Eaton; his 11 great-grandchildren; also his sister, Mary Eaton of Bath; as well as his nieces and nephews.

The Avoca Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Nelson F. Eaton.

Calling hours are 3-6 p.m. Friday (Nov. 16, 2018) at the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 17, 2018). Private interment, with military honors, will be held at Valley View Cemetery, Avoca.
