|Glenn Odell, Sr.
HORNELL-Glenn Odell, Sr, 82, of O’Connor Road, entered into rest Sunday morning (Jan. 28, 2018) at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, after a short illness.
Born in Hornell on Feb. 6, 1935, he was a son of the late Carl and Doris (Doorley) Odell. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his son, Michael Odell; his three-year-old brother, Lewis Odell and his infant sister, Dorothy Odell.
Glenn has resided his entire life at his home on O’Connor Road and attended Alfred-Almond Central School and proudly served with the Army National Guard.
He was employed as a dairy farmer before he began his employment as an artificial inseminator, Eastern AI, and retired about 20 years ago from Genex in Ithaca.
A member of the Stephens Mill Grange and the Canisteo Valley Historical Society, Glenn and his wife, Phyllis were members of the Southern Tier Region of the Guiding Eyes for the Blind and throughout the years raised 13 dogs. They were also former member of the Bath Woodchoppers, a blind bowling team.
He especially enjoyed spending time working around his home.
His loving family includes his wife of 63 years, the former Phyllis Griffin, who he married in Stephens Mills on Sept. 4, 1954; his four children, Glenn (Lisa) Odell, Jr. of Canaseraga, Douglas Odell (Cathy Swift) of Hornell, Suzanne (Ray) Sick of Wayland and Stephany Dungan of Bath; his 10 grandchildren, John (Carrie) Odell, Scott Odell (Bobbi Jo Freeman), Brooke (Craig) Milligan, Brittany Odell, Anne Marie (Luke) West, Jakob Odell, Matthew Dungan, Haylee Dungan, Edward Odell and Kathleen (William) Barnhart; also his 13 great-grandchildren; as well as several cousins.

Calling hours are 3-5 p.m. Friday (Feb. 2, 2018) at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, where a funeral service will be held in his memory following the calling hours at 5 p.m. Friday, with Rev. Kathy Jo Dye of Breesport officiating.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to the Southern Tier Region of the Guiding Eyes for the Blind, 7301 Stage Coach Road, Dansville, N.Y. 14437. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
