|ROSEMARY A. HOGAN
HORNELL/CANISTEO-Rosemary A. Hogan, 88, formerly of Hornell and Burt Hill Road in Canisteo, passed away Saturday morning (June 10, 2017) at Hornell Gardens.
Born in Hornell on March 9, 1929, she was the daughter of the late James and Anne (Hughes) Hogan. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, James Hogan.
A graduate of St. Ann’s School and Hornell High School, Rosemary received a bachelor’s degree from Nazareth College in Rochester.
From 1957 to 1969 she served as a Religious Sister of Mercy and was known as Sister Mary Victorine. She taught at St. Vincent’s and St. Mary’s schools in Corning, St. John the Evangelist, Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Holy Cross schools all in Rochester, also St. Mary’s School in Bath as well as St. Ann’s School in Hornell, where she also served as a lay teacher from 1974 to 1990.
Rosemary was a communicant of the former St. Ignatius Loyola Church in Hornell and St. Joachim’s Church in Canisteo and later at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell.
Her loving family includes her cousins, John B. (Sis) Hogan of Binghamton, Marilyn Steane of Fairport and Peggy (David) Fitch of Penfield; as well as several other cousins.

Calling hours are 5-7 p.m. Friday (June 16, 2017) at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell. Relatives and friends are invited to meet her family at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday (June 17, 2017). Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to either Steuben County Rural Minsitry, P.O. Box 61, Canisteo, N.Y. 14823 or to the Hornell Area Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Road, Hornell, N.Y. 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
