George W. "Bill" Cox III


AVOCA-George W. “Bill” Cox III, 62 died Saturday (March 1, 2014) at his home in the Town of Prattsburgh.
Born in Providence, R.I. on Jan. 22, 1952, Bill was a mechanic most of his life and was employed at Auction Direct in Victor up to his passing away.
His passions for life were his family, friends and motorcycles. He was a member of the Ontario County ABATE (American Bikers Aimed Towards Education) for 24 years. Bill was also the founder of New York Freedom Riders and a member of the Patriot Guard. He was dedicated to fighting for motorcycle rights.
Bill was an aspiring man, caring, loyal and touched many lives.
His loving family includes his wife of 33 years, the former Pamela L. Rankin; his two daughters, Trisha Cox and Kristina Cox; his mother, Audrey Gamble; his stepfather, Jesse Gamble; his father, George Cox, Jr.; his stepmother, Roberta Cox; his five brothers, Stephen Cox, Robert Cox, David Cox, Jeff Harris and Ed Harris; his sister, Debra Harris; his two stepsisters, Tracy Lamphere and Melissa Coulter; also his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews as well as many close longtime friends.
The Avoca Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of George W. “Bill” Cox III.
To honor his wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral service, only that a celebration of his life will be held at a later date to be determined by his family.
