Marilyn E. (Brown) Alsheimer

Marilyn E. (Brown) Alsheimer HORNELL-Marilyn E. "Min" (Brown) Alsheimer, 76, of 199 East Ave., entered into rest Wednesday morning (Jan. 30, 2013) at her son's home, after a long illness.
Born in Hornell on Nov. 10, 1936, she was a daughter of the late LaVerne and Bernice Bicknell Brown. Besides her parents she was also predeceased by her husbands, John J. Rose in 1985, William Coleman in 1977 and Charles Alsheimer in 1997; her five brothers, Donald Brown, Robert Brown, LaVerne "Short" Brown, Jack Brown and William Brown and her sister, Lucy Olds.
A resident of Hornell for most of her life, Marilyn was a graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1956. She resided in Naples, Fla. for about 20 years before returning to Hornell and then spent the winter months in Naples, Fla.
Before retiring she was employed in dining services at Aide Hall at Alfred University.
Marilyn attended St. Ann's Church in Hornell, was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Arthur H. Cunningham American Legion Post No. 440 in Hornell and loved to cook and enjoyed flower gardening; but most of all she especially loved the time she spent with her family.
Her family includes her three sons, Joseph (Barbara) Rose, John "Jay" (Judith)
Rose and William (Theresa) Coleman all of Hornell; her 10 grandchildren, Matthew "Chip" (Jamie) Rose, Jacob Rose (Courtney Briganti), Jeanette Rose (Rey Martinez), Jessica Rose, Eric (Julie) Rose, Elizabeth (Rich) Harris, Erin Rose, Justine Rose, Nicholas Coleman and Katie (Stuart) McHenry; also several step-grandchildren; her seven great-grandchildren; her three sisters, Carolyn Tibbott and Margaret "Pug" (William) Nasca all of Hornell and Barbara (Frank) Brown of Dingmans Ferry, Pa.; her three brothers, Roland "Buzz" (Sandra) Brown of Avoca, Thomas (Barbara) Brown and James (Sandra) Brown all of Hornell; her two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Brown and Sally Brown both of Hornell; her dear friend, Hildreth Rose of Hornell; also her many nieces, nephews, cousins and her special friend, Fred Pehlke of Naples, Fla.
Calling hours are from 4-7 p.m. today (Friday) at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m., with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at Rural Cemetery, Hornell.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to either Our Lady of the Valley Parish, 27 Erie Ave., Hornell, N.Y. 14843 or to the Walk of Life at Kaminiski Park and Gardens at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 631, Buffalo, N.Y. 14240. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
